OPTEL GROUP EARNS WEF’S NEW CHAMPIONS AWARD FOR DIGITAL DISRUPTION News release

Québec City, Canada, November 17, 2020 – OPTEL GROUP, a global leader in supply chain traceability, has earned a prestigious award from the World Economic Forum (WEF) for the potential impact of its disruptive digital technologies on the future of Industry 4.0.

The WEF’s New Champions awards recognize companies that explore business models, technologies and sustainable growth strategies that will be needed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution as industries and companies increasingly digitize their operations.

Of the three available categories, OPTEL was the sole winner of the New Champions award for Excellence in Digital disruption. The other two categories were Excellence in Sustainability and Excellence in Agile Governance.

“The Forum’s New Champions awards have recognized three organizations with the potential to create real long-term change through the areas of sustainability, digital disruption and agile governance. Winning projects must have the potential to deliver a substantial impact on business and society, be financially viable and ready to operate at scale – or already doing so,” the WEF explains on its website.

“This kind of award is further proof that our technology and our mission truly contribute to creating a better world,” said Louis Roy, president and founder of OPTEL GROUP.

Founded in 1989 and renowned around the world for its expertise in digital supply chain traceability and vision inspection systems, OPTEL has been developing the Intelligent Supply Chain®, a modular platform designed to secure and connect the world’s supply chains in an effort to fight counterfeiting and gray-market diversion, authenticate product origin and pedigree, and optimize operational performance for a variety of industries such as pharmaceutical and life sciences, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, and natural resources.
