OPTEL Joins NNIT’s NDC-12 Transformation Exchange to Help Manufacturers Get Ready for the Biggest Change to Drug Identification in Decades

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traceability leader brings 35+ years of serialization expertise to an industry forum built around one question: what needs to happen, and when?

Quebec City, October 29th, 2026.

OPTEL Group announced today that they have joined NNIT’s NDC-12 Transformation Exchange as a Transformation Partner Sponsor. The first Exchange takes place on November 17 in Princeton, New Jersey, bringing the industry together to tackle a shift that will touch every label, every system and every data exchange in the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain: the move to a uniform 12-digit National Drug Code.

For manufacturers, NDC-12 is far more than a formatting update. It ripples through packaging artwork, serialization systems, master data, ERP integrations and trading-partner communications. Getting it right takes coordination across teams that don’t always sit at the same table. The Transformation Exchange is designed to put them there.

Hosted by NNIT, the forum gathers leaders from life sciences, pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain, regulatory affairs, serialization and digital transformation. Its goal is practical: turn a complex regulatory transition into a clear roadmap, with concrete guidance on readiness planning, data governance and supply chain alignment.

“OPTEL brings valuable expertise in traceability, serialization, and supply chain visibility to this conversation,” said Greg Cathcart, Senior Vice President at NNIT. “Their participation as a Transformation Partner Sponsor strengthens the collaborative industry approach needed to support organizations navigating NDC-12 readiness.”

OPTEL has spent more than 35 years helping manufacturers meet track-and-trace requirements around the world, from line-level serialization to enterprise-wide supply chain visibility. As a Transformation Partner, OPTEL will contribute that field experience to the Exchange’s collaboration activities and to upcoming thought leadership initiatives, with a focus on what actually changes on the production floor and in the data.

“NDC-12 is a defining moment for the life sciences industry, and the manufacturers who start preparing now will have a real advantage,” said Olivier Laboissonnière, Senior Director, R&D and Business Development. “We’ve guided companies through every major serialization milestone of the past decade. We’re proud to join NNIT in helping the industry move from uncertainty to readiness, with practical answers on interoperability, traceability and digital transformation.”

What the NDC-12 Transformation Exchange will cover:

  • Lessons learned from the NDC-12 Industry Pilot
  • Transition readiness planning and timelines
  • Impact on operations, packaging and systems
  • Industry collaboration and trading-partner alignment
  • Practical preparation strategies manufacturers can act on now
