SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Development and operating within an agile structure, the Software Development Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising one or more multi-disciplinary teams, consisting of developers, software architects, quality specialists and product owners. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the performance and level of technical skills of each of them within their respective squads while promoting best practices in an agile environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structure, build and lead a highly effective team. Coach, inspire, train and hold the team accountable for delivering results, disseminating best practices and increasing their skills and impact.
  • Ensure the quality of work and individual performance of members in their squads
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and develop improvement/development plans as appropriate
  • Recruit new talent and establish service agreements with potential partners
  • Closely follow up on the progress of projects with the team and communicate progress to management
  • Promote the proper use of the various tools in place
  • Promote close collaboration between teams and departments
  • Ensure the propagation of good development practices and the corporate culture
  • Suggest areas for improvement in our current processes and help implement solutions
  • Suggest and implement tools to improve the efficiency of the squads
  • Support a continuous training plan for team members in the form of technical skills acquisition (coding dojo, etc.)

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science
  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 3 to 7 years experience in team management as a manager or team leader
  • Experience as a technical leader and in software architecture desirable
  • Bilingual in French and English (oral and written)
  • Experience in object-oriented programming
  • Experience developing server applications and/or microservices using languages and frameworks such as C#, Python, Java or JavaScript (Node.js, React.js, Typescript), etc.
