SUMMARY

Under the authority of the Products Management, the Sales Technical Specialist's main mandate is to communicate with the salesperson in order to evaluate his or her request to tender properly and develop the right solution for the client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication

  • Collect requests from the sales department;
  • Discuss with the salesperson in order to truly understand his or her expectations and requirements;
  • Ask questions if needed and collect the critical information for the preparation of different documents;
  • Communicate with the client if needed in order to clarify the project;
  • Act as a technical reference for the salespersons and the clients;
  • Collaborate in coordinating the tasks distribution with other team members and communicate the assignations to the other OPTEL Teams.

Evaluate the needs

  • Study the different documents received, including (if needed) URS, images and videos;
  • Communicate with the different teams in order to collect relevant information, if needed;
  • Identify projects that do not meet with the tender's requirements (too much risks involved or with no information);
  • Evaluate the preliminary needs in order to provide an approximate order of magnitude of costs to the client;
  • Order a risk assessment and a feasibility study, if needed.

Conception

  • From the project's data, create a costs evaluation according to target margins (Design Review);
  • From the project's data, create tenders.

Delivery

  • Transmit documentation to the salespersons, agents or clients (according to necessity);
  • If needed, transfer the information to Internet tools (such as ''e-sourcing'');
  • Transmit the tender's data to the sales administration;

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or college degree in a pertinent, related technical field with compensatory experience;
  • At least 5 years of relevant technical experience;
  • Technical writing experience (an asset);
  • Knowledge of information technologies (an asset).

SKILLS

  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written;
  • Good judgment of financial, technical and operational issues;
  • Perspicacity in order to offer a robust and pragmatic solution;
  • Write technical documents concisely and clearly;
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams.
