SUMMARY

The Mechanical Design Engineer will work on developing solutions and will work as a technical expert.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support to the mechanical designers at various stages of projects: study of the project requirements, design, design revision and challenge, manufacturing launch, assemblies and tests monitoring during the project
  • Act as an internal consultant by actively participating in the selection of mechanical components, technologies, materials and manufacturing processes to meet time, cost and quality objectives
  • Perform, as required, material resistance calculations, mechanism simulations, tolerance studies and other mechanical engineering related disciplines
  • Define the technical specifications and methods to be followed for the design and manufacture of the project parts
  • Apply good design and development process practices daily in the projects
  • Work closely with other departments to obtain feedback, analyze recurring issues and propose continuous improvements to increase the quality of the mechanical design
  • Provide technical support for operations and after-sales service
  • Develop the mechanical BOM setting
  • Develop a network of consultants and suppliers
  • Perform design using modeling software if required
  • Support the bidding process
  • Support the NPI process

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical system design in an industrial field (Food, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, etc.)
  • Recognized knowledge and expertise in mechanical manufacturing (machining and sheet metal) as well as assembly and commissioning of mechanical systems
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles, geometrical tolerance, pneumatics, material resistance and risk analysis
  • Experience in 3D modeling using Solidworks software
  • Functional English
  • Strong leadership, organization and priority management skills to be able to bring innovative solutions while maximizing reliability and cost
  • Good communicator with peers and suppliers
  • Ability to work in a team and within tight deadlines
