Optel Vision is looking to hire immediately full-time; permanent, remote based Field Service Engineers to install, service and upgrade to our computerized camera based vision inspection systems.
Field Technicians serve the vital role and primary contact when delivering, installing and supporting our advanced optical inspection systems.Field Technicians are dispatched from their homes to customer locations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. All applicants must have a valid US Passport and local driver’s license. Field Installers are required to travel 3 weeks (continuous) every month. Certain assignments may be require to travel on weekends, or to stay-over during weekends. (paid travel and paid weekends)
Desired Skills and Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on, technical experience with the installation, repair, troubleshooting of board level electronics and IT Networks.
Troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of various electronic equipment including radar, navigation, satellite and IT network systems.
Hands-on experience with both preventative and corrective maintenance on sophisticated electronic components and electronic communication equipment
Installation, modification and repair of complex electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation,
Advanced troubleshooting skills to identify faulty electrical and electronic systems and circuits.
Veterans with military training and electronic repair experience are encouraged to apply.
Required Technical Knowledge and Skills: Must have hands on experience in the maintenance and support of electronic components, IP based IT networks
Related industrial engineering and experience with manufacturing, automation or conveyors will be considered.Related experience can include; production line mechanic, line electrician, packaging machinery engineer, and general field technician responsible for product installation, support and repairs.
- Demonstrate clear communication skills, and individual leadership potential. Able to excel when working autonomously with high value electronics.
- Must have knowledge of electronic engineering experience; working with wiring/ cables, schematics, wiring and testing circuits and electrical components to the board level.
- Drilling / mounting in various materials. Running wiring, terminating, creating cable harnesses.
- Experience with wiring, wiring harnesses, terminating and testing circuits and components. Experienced in the installation of electronic-mechanical machinery or optics equipment is ideal.
- Must understand and interpret schematic diagrams, understand electrical symbols, terminology, calculate voltage and circuit flow. Be responsible and confident when installing sensitive electronic hardware, software and OEM equipment.
- Be familiar working with networking hardware, IP processes / connectivity, networking communications. IP addressing, identifying domains, routers, cables, switches, etc. General knowledge of software programming. (C++) Programming is not a requirement. Experience with XML scripts is a plus.
Required Education: Applicants must provide certificate(s) or diplomas from a recognized program (school, university, or military technical program). Training in electronics, mechanical, electro-mechanical engineering or similar related fields are desired. Military training and certifications fully considered. Military experience, training or certifications are welcome, and considered equal. GI Bill students from DeVry EET Electronic Engineering programs are encouraged to apply.
Language Requirements: All Field Technicians must be able to clearly speak and write in English. Secondary languages are highly desired. Field Technicians with the ability to deliver customer training in Spanish is a major plus. Clear communication, leadership potential and professional presentation skills are essential.
Travel Requirements: This position requires frequent and extended travel. All candidates must be prepared, ready and available to travel for a minimum of 3 weeks (continuously) per month. Weekend over-stays may be required when installations exceed 5 business days. All Field Technicians must be able to travel freely between the US and Canada, by commercial airline.
Required Training Period: 6-12 weeks paid hands-on training in Quebec City, QC. Canada. All new hires are required to pass progressive technical tests and skill-based functional tests throughout the entire training periods.
All applicants must pass a Technical Skills Test, prior to advancing to the Skype based technical interview. Candidates must be in good health, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
